Y
Dr. Leslie received her B.S.
degree in Nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, M.S. in
nursing and a PhD in Social Sciences and Health Behavior with an emphasis in
counseling and family studies from the University of Oklahoma. She completed
postgraduate training in sex and marital therapy at the Karl Menninger school of
Psychiatry, and Master’s and Johnson in St. Louis. She is a marital and
family therapist, ASSECT Certified Sex Therapist and certified registered nurse
practitioner.
She has more than 25 years experience as a
nurse practitioner, educator, counselor and sex therapist. Her experience
includes faculty positions at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and
Penn State University College of Medicine. While in those positions, she
developed a nurse practitioner program, women’s counseling, sexual health and
education center, a comprehensive-school based- teen pregnancy and parenting
program and the Women’s Health Education Institute. At Penn State, she was
nominated for a Penn State Outreach Award for her innovative work in community
health programs for women and their families.
Dr. Leslie served as Editor In Chief
for the OB Gyn Nursing Forum for 12 years. She received the Maternal Child
Health Nurse of the Year Award in Oklahoma and is listed in Who's Who in
America.
In addition, she has spoken locally,
nationally, internationally, and has given numerous lectures and seminars on
Women's Health issues, sexuality, and adolescent pregnancy.
Dr. Leslie is a Licensed marital and
Family Therapist, is a Women's Health Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
(Oklahoma and Arizona), and an ASSECT Certified Sex Therapist.
